CHANGING CHINA slide show (17) Travelling throughout China has recently made us understand the deep changes undergoing this Asian giant. We will be making artistic photos photos of China for the following months. To all our viewers we want to thank you deeply both for viewing and if possible for commenting our shots!!
Children from planet earth. slide show (12) Its amazing how being born here or a few miles away can make such a difference. In a world in which the "developed countries" define themselves as being "democratic" -this word being used as a synonym for "fair" - it does make a huge difference for a child to be born in a different country ,race, or economical conditions and to have a different passport. "Rich tourists" are treated therefore in an absolutely different way from poor immigrants, the first being received in expensive hotels and the latter being chased and sometimes even being sent into jail . The "civilised countries" see themselves as representatives of a model of freedom, ignoring the tyranical conditions they impose on the rest of the world, sometimes conciously and some other times unconciously. Throughout my travels around different countries I realised it really does make a difference for children to be born here or there, but that will be a cruel difference they will only realise when the grow older.
Dogs & Owners (Perros y dueños). slide show (11) Do we chose a dog, or does the dog chose us?? Sometimes the resemblances between dogs and owners are so acussed that we might even have a hard time telling who is who!! Didnt you ever find somebody in the street who looked exactly like his dog even sharing the same character? To tell you the truth, sometimes Ive had a hard time wanting to potrait a dog and his owner because of the owner asking me why him?? And believe me it was hard to explain that it was because he or she looked like their dogs. Sometimes it was taken as a cumpliment, and other times as an insult. I will try to continuously add images to this gallery, since my future goal will be to publish a book on the subject, so watch out if you look like your dog!!
Fantasy slide show (17) All the above photos belong to digital creations , many coming from images obtained from the real world which received little manipulation and some others were carefully transformed through a long digital process, and imagination.

INDIA (Potraits from the Indian people). slide show (86) Travelling as a backpaker for one year through the most untouched and sometimes primitive areas of India, you become absolutely absorbed by the Indian people and culture. India never leaves you indifferent, sometimes you suffer deeply sharing your feelings with the inhabitants, some other times you feel extremely euphoric, some other times you try to understand things that due to your culture you never will -such as the terrible discrimination of the lower casts-..............In india you become in touch with life and death at its maximum, and many times those deep contrasts can either help you to understand yourself much better or eitherwise, harm you and make you lose your optimism around the human nature. Whatever you might discover there, this collection of potraits of all kinds of people and ethnics remains here as a silent witness of their daily lives there. Javier Sanchez-Monge
Models slide show (49) Different types of stock photos from different people, which I will try to continously update.
NEPAL (Potraits from the people). slide show (55) In a country devastated by poverty and political conflicts, we managed to travel through the most remote areas for more than half a year with the help of my friend Kumar and a Gurung tribe porter. Most of the people were absolutely charming and helpful, and belonged to various tribes; Sherpas, Gurungs, Tamangs, Tibetan refugees..........at the time the conflicts between Maoists and the Government made us run into a few risy problems, but fortunately, we made it.
Photos from myself slide show (10) I will intend to fill this gallery with different images obtained from different parts of the world which will somehow reflect my job as a photographer.
RUSSIA slide show (13) Photo collection obtained through the use of old Soviet cameras, such as Zorki, Fed, or Mosckva, inspired in the pursue of Fiodor Dostoievski s literature and existentialism. The images where taken through the middle 90s, using old photographic techniques and the film SVEMA , an old film which at the date was still being produced and imported from Kiev, and which under 100 ISO gives quite an abundant and interesting grain. Sometimes I followed the characters until they conformed the perfect composition along with the sorroundings and sometimes I just picked up the sorroundings beforehand and waited for the suitable character or characters to appear
The Russia of Dostoievsky slide show (21) Here are some of the images I used for the photo exhibit ; "The Russia of Dostoievsky", an extensive research not only in photography using Russian cameras from the beggining of the XX century and old Soviet films such as SVEMA, but also an imagery research trying to establish connections between photography and literature, in this case trying yo connect with many of the characters belonging to Dostoievskys Russia. An article about this photo exhibit has been published in the Vermont college Journal of Arts & Letters -Springtime 2008-, published two times per year.
